Prague - A part of Národní Street in Prague 1 will change its appearance. There will be newly paved sidewalks and trees will appear. The modifications to the street are to be paid for by the investor who will build a luxury hotel on the last available plot on Národní Street, said Prague 1 councilor Filip Dvořák (ODS) to journalists today.
Currently, most of the sidewalks in this part of the street are asphalt, there are traffic issues, and greenery is completely lacking. Dvořák noted that the investor, according to the plan, would not only modify the space just in front of the planned building but also over a much longer stretch and on the opposite side of the street.
Similar cooperation between the city hall and businesses should become a matter of course in the future. "Especially with developers and construction companies, whose projects in the form of building renovations or new constructions influence and change the face of the center, we expect an active approach," said Dvořák.
According to the city hall's vision, companies would not only have to modify the surroundings of their buildings. They could, for example, build a playground or equip a school with computers.
A five-star hotel with approximately 140 rooms is set to be built on the plot on Národní Street. The new building will be connected to the neighboring palace on Mikulandská Street. The plot was sold by the city two years ago for what seems to be a record price of 234,700 crowns per square meter, totaling 183.8 million crowns.
