ČD and Penta want to build houses above the tracks in the center of Prague

"We want to cover the entire station and the tracks, and on the platform that will be created above the tracks, houses or administrative buildings will be constructed. They are to be four- to five-story buildings that will not obstruct the view of Prague Castle," said Miroslav Kupec, the General Director of Czech Railways, to E15. According to him, the investment in this project will amount to several billion crowns. The joint venture of the companies would finance the construction partially from its own resources and partially through a bank loan.

"The size of the given area allows for the construction of a smaller block of buildings; the zoning plan permits construction there," said Pavel Streblov, director of Penta for commercial construction, to the newspaper. According to Kupec, ČD will sell the land for the construction of the buildings once they manage to obtain building permits. This way, they will achieve a significantly higher price.

ČD, Penta, and Sudop are also collaborating on the construction of a complex of buildings at Masaryk Station in the center of Prague. According to plans, offices, shops, restaurants, a hotel, and a park are to be created there. The costs for this project are also likely to be in the billions of crowns.
