After fifteen years, during which the ten-story dominant of Poruba remained unused and gradually fell into disrepair, an enlightened investor emerged who understood its social and architectural legacy.
The company MIRTESS a.s. wants to save the building for Ostrava and also dignifiedly renovate the adjacent public space. The chairman of the board of the investing company, Marek Bědroň, has teamed up with the award-winning Ostrava architect David Kotek for this ambitious task.
The people of Ostrava have been watching the work on the façade of the tower with interest for several days.
“Thanks to smart urban collaboration with the investor and the owners of the surrounding buildings, a complex will be created that will significantly enhance the quality of life and the attractiveness of this part of Ostrava,” states architect David Kotek.
Currently, the tower is undergoing reconstruction, which will be designated for commercial purposes, followed by the adjacent structures. Already, the area and the surroundings of the Black Pearl are coming back to life and providing support for startups as well as established companies.
The tower will be restored with sensitivity to its architectural history, focusing on detail and ecological operation. Therefore, the principles of so-called circulatory architecture will be utilized.
The investor is currently in negotiations with a strategic tenant who would ensure an attractive and beneficial use of the modernized building for all city residents.
