The European Heritage Days in H. Králové will commemorate Gočár

Hradec Králové - The European Heritage Days this year in Hradec Králové will focus on the significant figure of Hradec's history, architect Josef Gočár. The event titled A Walk Not Just Through Gočár's Schools will take place on Saturday, September 19. The City Hall representatives announced this today. This year marks 140 years since Gočár's birth. Together with Jan Kotěra and other architects, he significantly influenced the modern appearance of the city.

"On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the city has published a thematic material A Walk Not Just Through Gočár's Schools," stated the City Hall spokesman, Petr Vinklář.

On Saturday, it will be possible to visit, for example, the Hradec Industrial Secondary School near the State Scientific Library, the Art Nouveau building of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia on Eliščina embankment in the city center, the building that was originally a kindergarten in the school complex on Tyl's embankment, the nearby J. K. Tyla Grammar School, or the Church of Priest Ambrož. More information about the program can be found on the city website.

In the 1920s, Gočár designed a viable urban plan for Hradec Králové, where many of his buildings have been constructed. He was born on March 13, 1880, in Semín near Přelouč. Several exhibitions in Hradec Králové commemorate Gočár.
