Prague - Guyana Holding, the majority owner of Škodův Palace, has acquired one of the most respected and influential architects in Europe, Eva Jiřičná, for its project. Her task is to create a vision of how this Art Deco palace should be transformed into an inspiring and welcoming modern space with shops and offices, while respecting the historical value of the original design. At this moment, this is not about carrying out a reconstruction, but about exploring the potential of the palace with the aim of preserving its valuable historical appearance, tradition, and key role in Prague.

"In selecting an architect, we were looking for someone with a relationship to the regeneration of historic buildings and an urban perspective on the matter. Someone who knows that something new is not the only option. We also needed an architect with experience in similar designs that meet the requirements of contemporary clientele. We believe that Eva Jiřičná will approach this project sensitively and at the same time elevate the palace to several levels higher," said Abigail Schaeffer, a board member of Guyana Holding. "Eva Jiřičná's task is to explore the potential of the palace and ensure that it will be an even more attractive and modern space than it is today," Schaeffer concludes.

There has been significant development in the area around Národní třída, and the owners wish to consider all possible alternatives for the future of the palace. Projects of this scope require planning well in advance, and even though 11 years may seem like a long time, it is a standard timeframe. Eva Jiřičná's involvement in this project will not disrupt the city's activities, as it is only at the stage of concepts, reflections, and preliminary intentions.

"Škodův Palace represents a generous architectural work, both in terms of size, architecture, and location. Recently, I have been focusing my work around the world on how to breathe new life into old buildings instead of constructing new ones. I want to direct my efforts towards studies that will arise from the demands for modern office and commercial spaces of the highest contemporary standard with a look toward the future," stated Eva Jiřičná.

Eva Jiřičná is an acclaimed architect known for maximizing space while combining technical solutions, architecture, and interior design. One of her most recognized works, Somerset House, embodies the transformation of 'difficult-to-handle' London spaces into a modern structure while respecting its original historical value. Eva Jiřičná particularly enjoys working on projects where she can offer timeless and innovative design in well-established, historic developments.
