Olomouc - The construction of another high-rise building in Olomouc, which is supposed to measure around 45 meters and is part of the planned completion of the BEA complex on Kosmonautů Avenue, could begin this year and be completed next year. The company Tesco SW, owned by entrepreneur Josef Tesařík, aims to obtain the necessary permits at the turn of spring and summer so that builders can start working in the autumn. The dominant feature of the BEA complex, located on the site of former barracks, is currently the 74-meter high headquarters of the Moravian University of Finance and Administration, which is the third tallest building in Olomouc.

"We will start the second phase of construction as soon as an agreement is reached between the city council and us. I believe that an agreement will be reached soon so we can apply for zoning and building permits. I am optimistic and believe that we will start building before winter," Tesařík told reporters today, whose companies have already built two high-rise buildings, RCO and BEA, in Olomouc.
Tesařík does not hide the fact that he plans to start the construction of the second part of the BEA complex, including the new high-rise building, before the new zoning plan takes effect, which does not consider the construction of additional high-rise buildings in Olomouc. Before starting construction, he wants to discuss the project again with the councilors to familiarize them with the details and convince them of its necessity. "High-rise buildings bring people and jobs to the city," believes Tesařík, according to whom the BEA center will contribute to improving the economic situation in the region.
However, the city council is not too fond of the project for another high-rise building in the city so far. The planned completion of the BEA complex includes not only squares and avenues but also several multi-story buildings for the university campus, which the city hall has no objections to. "This (high-rise) building has not convinced us yet. We want to continue discussions with the investor," said Mayor Martin Novotný (ODS) to reporters.
Architect Ladislav Opletal from Artera, the company preparing the project, told reporters that the building will be named "BEA Social and Spiritual Center". The building will have, in addition to a hall with a diameter of about 30 meters, several floors for electronic libraries, study rooms, and meditation centers. The upper floors are planned to include an observation deck and a café. According to Opletal, a height of 45 meters will ensure an ideal view of the city panorama.
The first phase of the construction of the BEA university campus, including the Moravian University building, cost 400 million crowns, and the second phase is expected to cost 200 million crowns. The third phase, which will include a multi-story building lining the main Kosmonautů Avenue, is expected to cost 400 million crowns. "These are funds we are investing through loans from banks, so the (completion of the complex) will take approximately three to seven years," Tesařík noted.
Currently, there are two new high-rise buildings in Olomouc. RCO measures 71 meters and the Moravian University building is 74 meters. In the vicinity of the historic city center, the construction of the Šantovka Tower is being prepared, which, with its 75 meters, would share the position of the second tallest building in Olomouc with the town hall. However, the regional office canceled the city conservators’ decision approving the construction of the Šantovka Tower in the protective zone of the city monument reserve. The project, which has numerous opponents in Olomouc, is therefore likely to become complicated.
