Hradec Králové – The representatives of Hradec Králové have today approved the amended conditions of the public procurement for the quarter-billion reconstruction of the Habrmanova Primary School and the Habrmanova Arts School. They raised the weight of the price in the evaluation of the tender to 85 percent from 70 percent, while the length of the warranty period offered by bidders will weigh 15 percent instead of 30 percent. The tender conditions will also take into account that the school will not be under operation during the renovation, but will be empty. The estimated cost before the competition is 223 million crowns excluding value-added tax.

The original conditions of the tender were approved by the representatives at the end of January this year. However, a possibility emerged to relocate children to the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University on Šimkova Street and renovate the school on Habrmanova Street as an empty building. "Therefore, the deadlines for implementation, the service contract, and other related parts of the documentation are being adjusted. After a discussion in the city council and at the request of colleagues from the opposition, we also decided that the price criterion would be moved to 85 percent," said Deputy Mayor for Investments Lukáš Řádek (TOP 09).

Currently, about 450 students attend the primary school, while 1140 children are enrolled in the arts school. Initially, the city planned for the school to operate partially during the renovation. The primary school was supposed to use some of the rooms of the arts school in the morning, which was to operate in those rooms in the afternoon. The upper grades of the primary school were to relocate to the school building on V Lipkách Street.

The schools on Habrmanova Street are expected to receive a new gym with facilities, an extension for specialized classrooms, and an elevator for barrier-free access. The arts school will gain two dance halls, a place for storing costumes, and cabinets for teachers from the reconstruction. The builders are also expected to build a new equipment storage, a house for the groundskeeper, and new entrance gates.

Hradec Králové has a grant of over 35 million crowns for the construction from the European program IROP. The majority of the project costs will be covered by the city from an investment loan of 700 million crowns, which the representatives approved at the end of last year.
