The Antiquarian and Club Fiducia invites you to a debate on May 20, 2013, at 6:00 PM:

What Should the Municipal Gallery in Ostrava Look Like?

A public expert debate featuring leading Czech experts.

The expert debate with a number of specialists will focus on the issues of municipal galleries with regard to the establishment of a municipal gallery in Ostrava. The debate will address how municipal galleries in the Czech Republic operate, their position in the city where they function, and what role they play with respect to the emerging municipal gallery in Ostrava. We will discuss how the Ostrava municipal gallery will function, what it will bring to the city, and similar topics.

Debate guests:

Michal Škoda – curator of the Art House České Budějovice

Rostislav Koryčánek - curator of the Art House of the City of Brno, long-time director of this institution (until 2012)

Otto M. Urban – head of the Department of Art History and Theory at the Prague AAU, curator of the most visited exhibition in the history of Rudolfinum, and author of the expert opinion on the concept of the municipal gallery Trojhalí Karolina

Jiří Jůza – director of GVUO, member of the working group SMO for the establishment of a municipal gallery in Ostrava

Martin Mikolášek – curator, representative of the Kunsthalle Ostrava association

The debate will be moderated by journalist Monika Horsáková.
