Roudnice nad Labem – The outdoor swimming pool in Roudnice nad Labem in the Litoměřice region could begin construction next year. The city will pay several tens of millions of crowns for the construction. The project documentation is currently being finalized, after which the city hall will seek funding for the construction. Jan Vancl, the city spokesman, said this today. The original swimming pool was destroyed by floods in 2002.

The new swimming facility was supposed to be built in the city more than ten years ago, but the company that was supposed to construct it went bankrupt. The concrete ruins that the company managed to build were recently acquired by the city in an auction. Originally, the city hall intended to build outdoor pools from scratch, but according to Vancl, they will build upon the company's work. "It's more economical and practical," the spokesman stated.

The design company has revised the original plans and added newer requirements to the documents. The proposal was presented to the public by the city hall so that they could complete the project. The subsequent construction will be funded by the city either from its roughly 300 million crown budget or by trying to secure a grant. "It is planned to connect to the newly renovated indoor swimming pool, where the technology is already prepared for it," Vancl said.

The swimming pool is expected to feature a multipurpose pool divided into swimming and recreational areas. The complex will also include several water attractions, such as a pool with a waterslide. The city hall is also considering a children's paddling pool, recreational facilities, and courts.
