Prague - Legislative steps aimed at fixing dysfunctions in the building process are realistically manageable at the turn of November and December. This was stated to journalists after the first meeting of government coalition leaders without representatives of the Pirates by Minister of Transport Martin Kupka (ODS). The chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL, and STAN, along with the leaders of their parliamentary factions, discussed problems with the digitalization of the building process this evening in the Chamber, which led to the dismissal of the Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš (Pirates) and subsequently the departure of the Pirates from the government.
Vice Prime Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL), temporarily leading the Ministry for Regional Development, told journalists that after a deeper insight into the problem, the state of digitalization of the building process appears to be in even worse condition than it seemed a week ago. Today, representatives of the ministry discussed possible changes with seven hundred involved officials. According to Jurečka and Kupka, it is now necessary to piece together individual legislative steps so that the changes can pass as quickly as possible. The coalition also plans to negotiate with the opposition and use proposals that the Chamber has already started to discuss.
According to Vice Prime Minister Vlastimil Válek from TOP 09, the coalition wants to enhance digitalization in general. "It's not just about the digitalization of the building process, but a whole range of things that mean the modernization of the Czech Republic, and we need to proceed faster than we have so far," Kupka said.
The coalition faces further discussions about the form of the affordable housing law, which was prepared by the Pirates alongside the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, after the departure of the Pirates from the government. ODS is concerned about the number of officials, Kupka reiterated.
