Come and expand your skills at a week-long course for the public focused on the basics of architectural drawing and architectural vision at the Faculty of Architecture VUT.

This year's course will take place from August 28 to September 1, 2023. The course consists of 17 hours divided into 5 lessons over five days – 3x3 and 2x4 hours. The lessons will take place in the drawing studio of the FA and outdoors.

The order of lessons will be specified at the beginning of the course, also depending on the weather. The course will be led by staff from the Institute of Visualization FA VUT and is suitable for all interested parties, especially recommended for those interested in studying architecture. Drawing proficiency is not required.

In the lessons held in the drawing studio of the Faculty of Architecture, you will get acquainted with the fundamentals of perspective – theory, perspective studies, basics of drawing technique, composition. In the lessons that will take place outside the faculty, in the open air, you will practice observing and drawing perspective in real conditions.
One lesson will be dedicated to an outing with commentary focused on architectural phenomena, styles, and real situations that can be observed in the streets of Brno. Brno is an architecturally fascinating city, renowned for its modernist buildings and unique urban situation, where historical and modern urban developments blend with rural enclaves and charming parks.

Recommended materials and equipment: pencils of various hardness, colored pencils, eraser. It is also possible to use markers or pens and ink, watercolors, and brushes. For drawing outdoors, a board or a hard paper (cardboard) pad – minimum A3, ideally A2. Paper will be available. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, something against the sun – a hat, cap, or possibly an umbrella. If you have one, bring a folding chair; if not, you'll find a bench.
