Prague - The Ministry for Regional Development (MMR) will prepare an amendment to the Building Act by the end of this year. This is stated in the timeline that the ministry will present at Wednesday's government meeting. The amendment should, among other things, merge all permit procedures into one and simplify the acquisition of building permits.
The basic thesis of the Building Act amendment, aimed at simplifying and accelerating the permitting process, is primarily seen by MMR in a single decision encompassing all the necessary permits for the implementation of the project. "That is, in linking the environmental impact assessment process and, for example, the procedure for issuing integrated permits (IPPC) with building permit approvals," stated MMR in a commentary on the timeline.
The amendment is also intended to clarify the powers of the involved authorities, shorten the process of making changes and updates to spatial planning documents, allow the use of spatial analytical materials for all activities of public administration, and shorten judicial deadlines in appeals.
The ministry plans to establish a working group consisting of representatives from building authorities, relevant ministries, professional organizations, and investors. MMR aims to present the final form of the law to the government after the inter-ministerial commenting process in March next year. The amendment is then expected to come into effect on January 1, 2016.
