Náchod - The city of Náchod will start the reconstruction of the athletic stadium in the Hamra area in July. The repair will cost 36 million crowns including VAT and will be one of the largest investments of this year for the twenty-one thousand inhabitants city. The stadium was built in the 1970s and since then, only regular maintenance has been performed. After modernization, the facility should mainly serve youth teams. The city has obtained a grant of 15 million crowns from the state for the repair. Nina Adlof, the city's spokesperson, said this to the Czech News Agency today.

Builders from the Kroměříž company EKKL will lay new surfaces for athletic disciplines at the stadium. For example, the 400-meter running track will receive an artificial surface that will meet the requirements of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). There will be sectors for high jump, long jump, pole vault, javelin throw, discus throw, hammer throw, and shot put. In the center of the stadium, a football pitch will remain, which will get a new lawn. Everything should be completed by the end of the year.

The city plans investments totaling 112 million crowns this year. Aside from the Hamra sports complex, among the most significant investments are the renovation of the historic spa and the initiation of the revitalization of the castle hill. The state will also invest significant amounts in Náchod, especially in the repair of the road bypassing the city, which is estimated at 130 million crowns.
