PRAGUE / The Forum for Architecture and Media is organizing a series of film screenings titled VACANT MODERN, contributing to the current debate on the issue of heritage protection for modern architecture. On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 19:00, there will be a screening on Husova Street 18a in Brno of a documentary about the iconic building of Japanese Metabolist architecture, which was built in 1972 based on the design of Kisho Kurokawa as a recyclable sustainable project and has been threatened with demolition for several years. The Japanese documentary film by director Rima Yamazaki from 2010 captures not only the history of the building's creation but also the discussion about its possible rescue, which took place among more than a hundred owners of individual capsules, the local architectural scene, and the authorities protecting heritage. The film will be screened with English subtitles.
