The shopping center on Vídeňská in Brno will expand to include an eleven-story building

Brno – The shopping center on Vídeňská Street in Brno, which houses the Albert chain, will undergo significant expansion. The developer Roosednal Videnska will construct an eleven-story multifunctional building, a six-story building, and also a residential building. The shopping center itself is set to receive an extension that will include a playground with facilities. The parking area will be raised by one floor, and the public space will also be improved, the Brno city hall stated in a press release.

The constructions are initiated by the private developer. The city requires him to sign a cooperation agreement prior to issuing the zoning decision, as outlined in a document titled Principles for Cooperation with Investors in the Development of Public Infrastructure of the Statutory City of Brno. This pertains to guarantees for the construction, future ownership, and maintenance of paved areas that will be part of the public space, public lighting, and green areas. "The plan is a suitable complement to the function of housing and the new public space, including new commercial areas and passages right next to the public transport stop. Conditions also include new greenery plantings and green roofs,” said the city councillor for urban planning, Filip Chvátal (KDU-ČSL).

The eleven-story building will be located at the corner of Vídeňská and Strážní streets, that is, in the place where there is currently a lawn. The second building will be adjacent to the shopping center at the corner of Strážní and Vsetínská. The residential building will be situated in the northeastern part of the center at Vsetínská Street, where there is currently a parking lot. A total of 1910 m² of commercial space, nearly 5500 m² of office space, and 63 apartments are to be created, including dozens of parking spaces underground.

The developer will commence construction based on when he obtains the zoning decision and building permit.
