Kolín - The terraces of the municipal social house in Kolín, which had been inaccessible for decades, were opened to the public in September after reconstruction. People praise their new appearance, said Kolín Mayor Vít Rakušan (STAN) to ČTK today. According to him, the project made sense and can be one of the symbols of Kolín. The costs of the reconstruction amounted to around three million crowns, with 600,000 crowns contributed by the Kolín car manufacturer TPCA. "The feedback I received was truly only positive. But it is a space that surprised the younger generation, because often they didn't even know it existed. The older generation had some sentiment about it, and I think also a good feeling that this is truly a change for the better," said Rakušan.
The repairs of the terraces began last October. After their demolition, only the structure remained, which the builders repaired and on which they constructed new terraces. The area received new paving and instead of the old pools, flower beds were created. Benches and lighting were added.
According to Rakušan, the reconstructed terraces will be a place to relax with a view of the river; the adjacent restaurant placed outdoor seating on the terraces, and in part of the terraces under the balconies, there is a public workspace with Wi-Fi and electricity supply.
The thirty-one thousand Kolín is operating this year with over a billion crowns. Among the largest investments are the repair of the bus station for about 60 million crowns and the reconstruction of St. Bartolomew's Church and its surroundings for about 70 million crowns.
