From December, it is possible to use the services of an authorized inspector

The authorized inspector, whose task is primarily to review the project and issue building permits, can be hired by the public from the beginning of December this year. The first twenty-three inspectors were appointed based on the decision of the Minister for Regional Development already in November, but they can start their activities effective from December 1, 2007. The introduction of the authorized inspector institution is a novelty of the construction law in effect since January 2007. The inspector should verify the project documentation for a fee (approximately 1000 CZK/hour) and issue a certificate which legitimizes the construction. This may replace the work of the building authority and significantly speed up the construction permitting process. The function of the authorized inspector can be performed by professionals from the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) and the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians (ČKAIT), who meet the qualification requirements specified by the construction law and pass a challenging examination.
