Olomouc - The strategic plan that will determine the basic parameters for the development of Olomouc for the next up to twenty years is being prepared by the Olomouc City Hall. The public will also participate in the creation of the document, which should be completed by the end of next year, said the mayor's deputy Aleš Jakubec (TOP 09) to journalists today.
The currently valid strategic plan for Olomouc was created in 2000, and despite being updated, it is already significantly outdated according to Jakubec. Therefore, the city hall will conduct analyses and surveys to gain an overview of the current priorities of residents, from which the proposal for the new strategic plan will then be derived.
"The plan will be developed in close cooperation with experts, coalition and opposition politicians, and the public of Olomouc," Jakubec stated, adding that discussions with the city's residents are also planned.
The preparation of the new strategic plan for Olomouc is divided into three phases. Ultimately, the selected plans will be translated into investment intentions. "A repository of project intentions for the entire planning period will be created, and each year several activities will be selected from it in the form of a so-called action plan, which should already be taken into account in the city's budget," Jakubec noted. According to him, the previous development plan for Olomouc was not connected to the city hall's budget.
The new strategic development plan for Olomouc will be prepared by the firm Mepco, and experts from Palacký University will also participate in its preparation, reaching out to at least a thousand residents of the city to ensure the data collected has significant relevance. The plan will, according to Jakubec, outline the fundamental direction of the city's development and describe the state that should be achieved within a horizon of up to twenty years.
