Otrokovice (Zlínsko) - Otrokovice in the Zlín region today began the long-discussed and planned repairs of the area in front of the train station. Passengers and local residents will not only find dignified spaces at the symbolic entrance to the city after the work is completed, but above all greater comfort. Here, train, bus, and city public transport will intersect. The town hall received a 15 million crown grant from European funds for the nearly 68 million crown investment.

Currently, there is only a city public transport stop in front of the train station, while the bus station is located in another part of the town. In addition to addressing this issue, the project also includes the construction of a pedestrian zone and short-term parking for about ten personal cars. The governor of the Zlín region and former mayor of Otrokovice, Stanislav Mišák, told ČTK today that the project also considers space for the construction of a parking garage. “In this case, however, the entry of a private investor is expected,” he pointed out.
The reconstruction of the area in front of the station is set to be completed by February next year. The modifications were supposed to start during the first EU planning period, but the city did not receive financial support at that time.
