Ostrava - One of the most populous districts of Ostrava, Poruba, is preparing to transform the area near the roundabout on Hlavní Třída, which is the symbolic center of the neighborhood. The proposal aims to be prepared still this year and the area is to be modified by the end of 2021. This was announced today by the spokesperson of the Poruba Town Hall, Martin Otipka.
Mayor Lucie Baránková Vilamová (ANO) stated that the town hall does not want to undertake any extensive reconstruction, but rather to maintain the existing character of the place and modify it so that everyone feels better there. "We know that there are no toilets or a water feature here that could cool the air on hot summer days, of which there are more and more. We are also thinking about many other things that could make the area more attractive,” said the mayor.
The town hall will present the proposal to the public, followed by the creation of project documentation, the modification of greenery, and then the entire area. "The basis for the revitalization will be an area analysis that Poruba commissioned a few years ago. It was created in cooperation with local residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs who have their businesses in the vicinity. The proposal will include all their substantial comments,” stated the mayor.
The area near the roundabout sees thousands of people passing through daily and hosts various sports, cultural, and social events. The town hall has now installed an exhibition that will familiarize people with how the place has changed over the years and will also present the most important data from the analysis. The exhibition will be on display until September 23.
