Hodonín – The restoration of the children's town in Hodonín, which was damaged by a tornado in 2021, will begin in January. More than 100 million korunas will be spent on creating clubhouses and playgrounds with a tartan surface. The construction work will follow the first phase from last spring, which involved planting 13 mature trees and 58 seedlings, as well as building seven hibernation shelters for amphibians. It is expected to be completed by mid-2026. The city announced this in its newsletter.

The town will feature a central circle complemented by a fire pit, around which will be a two-story operational building with a large community hall and kitchen. "There will also be a larger clubhouse with its own social facilities and storage space. The complex will include 12 new wooden cottages serving as clubhouses. The playground with a tartan surface will be used for games and sports, and a gazebo with a grill will provide a place for gatherings. Paved areas, new furniture, lighting, and fencing will be standard," said Hodonín spokesperson Petra Kotásková.

The restoration will also include the modification of the areas near the garages on Erbenova Street. After the construction work is completed, a second phase of greenery planting will follow.

The construction is being managed by the company VHS Břeclav, with costs amounting to 114.7 million korunas. The grant from the Ministry for Regional Development exceeds 73 million, and the restoration of greenery has been supported by nearly six million from the state environmental fund.

Before the tornado, the children's town provided a background for organizations focused on working with children and youth. It is expected to operate similarly after the restoration.
