Svitavy - The Town Hall in Svitavy wants to know the opinion of residents on which projects should take priority in the city and how they could possibly improve them. In a sociological survey, they will ask 400 respondents. The results will be evaluated by the Department of Sociology and Andragogy at Palacký University in Olomouc, said Mayor Jiří Brýdl at today's press conference. "We could enrich the published plans with new perspectives and rank their priorities according to the wishes of the citizens," he added. The town hall will receive partial results of the survey in June, with a final report in September. "In it, we will find out which groups of residents prefer different projects. In June, we will know which projects are of the most interest to the residents," stated Brýdl. Residents can express their opinions on the reconstruction of the swimming pool, stadium, Sport guesthouse, or the extension of the indoor swimming pool. The town hall also plans to improve the park facilities and convert a former barn into a café. The project should include an information system that will offer sightseeing routes in Svitavy, information about cycling routes, and monuments. "While Litomyšl or Polička primarily attract tourists with their monuments, we would like to enhance tourism in the field of sports. People are beginning to take more care of themselves, so our specialization will be sports," said Brýdl. The town hall conducted a sociological survey in the past. Last year, they asked how safe people in Svitavy feel. They evaluated issues such as crime and the work of the municipal police. A majority of the respondents believed that crime in the city had improved over the past three years. "The survey was conducted twice. The second results showed that a significant portion of citizens feel safer in the city after being asked again," said Brýdl.
