The Belgian candy manufacturer, Levimo, will be expanding production at its factory in Humpolec. Currently, it is reconstructing the building of the former canteen. The design and project author is the architectural studio Adam Rujbr Architects.
"This is the second phase of the reconstruction of the former Sukno textile factory. In the newly reconstructed building, there will be part of the production and storage spaces," said Dalibor Pech, the director of Levimo's Czech branch.
As part of the reconstruction, a connecting neck (bridge) will be built between the existing and newly created production building, which will ensure the flow of products from the new building to the existing one, as well as passage for employees. "The contrast between the anthracite and white colors, as well as the harmonious composition of horizontal and vertical elements, elevate the building from just a production unit to an impressive architectural landmark. The silver volume of the ground floor extension reflects the existing production hall, and the orange elements of the stair railings resonate with the color of the administrative building and highlight the entrances to the building," describes the solution architect Adam Rujbr.
According to him, the main expressive elements of the three-story building are the prominent white horizontal bands with windows featuring sloping reveals, irregularly distributed on three sides of the building.
The reconstruction, which should be completed by the end of this year, means 15-20 new jobs.
Levimo is based in Belgium and is engaged in the production and packaging of confectionery, particularly biscuits, wafers, and pralines.
