Prague - The reconstruction of the DBK shopping center on Budějovická Street in Prague 4 has cost more than 300 million crowns over the past two years. This investment has expanded the retail space of the entire DBK to 16,500 square meters from 10,000 square meters, said Andrea Štokrová from DBK Prague to ČTK today, adding that on Monday, September 3, the trial operation of the reconstructed lower two floors of the DBK shopping center will begin. In the shopping gallery of the reconstructed shopping center, according to Štokrová, up to 55 new stores and service establishments will be created. "Among the largest are retail units such as C & A, Marks & Spencer, DM Drogerie, Baťa, City Sport, and Pet Center," she stated. The tenants will also include establishments like Fokus Optik, Coffee Heaven, Knižní Klub, Boon, Ara Shoes, Galerie Spirála, Triumph, Klier hair salon, and Ski & Bike center. All of them are expected to open by mid-September. "The newly built gastronomic passage with 12 restaurants, delicatessens, and ethnic fast food will provide customers with a diverse selection of food from healthy breakfasts to quick lunches and gourmet dinners," Štokrová noted. The reconstruction of the DBK shopping center began last summer when all escalators were replaced and new panoramic elevators were built. Last autumn, the ground floor of the shopping center with the shopping gallery was opened, and the construction of the gastronomic extension was initiated. This year, the reconstruction of four floors of the shopping center has taken place. Some of the reconstructed floors are set to unify the offerings during September, Štokrová stated. The second above-ground floor will cater to the needs of mothers and their children, while the third will focus on products for home needs, home furnishings, or garden furniture. The DBK shopping center was opened in Prague 4 in 1981, specializing in the sale of furniture. In the 1990s, it was incorporated into the Prior retail network. Currently, this shopping center is operated by DBK Prague, owned by MAT Corporation.
