Prague – The suspended bridge in Dolní Morava, the Radbuza waterfront in Plzeň, and the reconstruction of the Army Museum in Žižkov, Prague, are among the 31 nominees for the Building of the Year 2022 award. The progressing projects out of 79 registered were announced this evening at the National Technical Museum in Prague. Titles will be awarded on October 13, and one-third of the finalists will receive a crystal stamp. This was announced to ČTK by the Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Construction, which organizes the competition.

The jury of the 30th anniversary edition of the competition stated that Sky Bridge 721, as the 721-meter-long bridge in the Jeseníky foothills is called, is considered an "extraordinary realization of a unique structural solution for the longest pedestrian suspension bridge." The Plzeň Radbuza waterfront impressed the jury along with the panel of experts for its outstanding approach to public space design in an active flood zone.

Other nominees include, for example, the renovation of the Vyškov transformer station, the reconstruction and modernization of the Zámeček memorial in Pardubice, modifications to the head of the Hořín navigation channel, the multifunctional Pavilion Z in České Budějovice, a footbridge over the Elbe in Nymburk, flood protection measures on the Desná River in Rapotín, the reconstruction of the Clam-Gallas Palace in Prague, and the facilities and changing rooms for football players in Sobíňov.

For the ninth time, the Foreign Building of the Year will also be announced. The award is contested by buildings in the Slovak cities of Prešov and Bratislava, in Latvia, and in Bogotá, Colombia.

The competition is intended for buildings completed and put into operation or approved by the end of this May. New constructions, renovations, transport structures, exteriors, interiors, as well as significant patios and gardens have applied.

The announcement of this year's results will be followed by a ceremonial gala evening on November 18 at the Rudolfinum in collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic, where all titles and buildings from the 30 years of the competition will be recalled in a retrospective.
