Czech Television will broadcast a time-lapse documentary Pahrbek český by director Lucie Králová (*1978) on Thursday, January 21 at 20:00 on the ČT2 channel.
The popular Czech hut on Sněžka was literally devoured by a wood-decaying fungus, and its extensive remains were removed for a long time by a team of specialists using demanding techniques and helicopters. During this work, disputes began about what should be built on our highest mountain. An interesting aspect of the whole discussion was that it extended to the debate about national identity. Lucie Králová's time-lapse documentary is therefore not only an observation of the gradual growth of the new building on Sněžka, but also a deeper exploration of the context of such a construction. It concerns not only the connections related to national identity but also historical, architectural, and ecological contexts. The film features, for example, the investor of the new post office on Sněžka Jaroslava Skrbková, architects Martin Rajniš and Patrik Hoffman, president Václav Klaus, and others.
