Tetín – The municipality of Tetín in the Jičín region has completed the reconstruction of the municipal office. The building also houses a library, a childcare group for 12 children, and facilities for public services. The total costs amounted to approximately 25 million crowns. This was reported today by MP and the mayor of the municipality Matěj Hlavatý (STAN) to ČTK. The region provided the municipality with an 18 million crown loan in May to complete the reconstruction. According to Hlavatý, the municipality secured grants for the project totaling almost 20 million crowns.
"The building is finished and has been approved. We have an operator for the childcare group and we are opening on Tuesday," Hlavatý announced on Facebook. The ceremonial opening of the building today was also attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Aleš Juchelka and the Governor of the Hradec Králové Region Petr Koleta (both ANO).
The project was delayed compared to the original expectations. The original completion date was set for February this year, which was subsequently postponed to April and finally to July, with the municipality managing to complete it in June. "We handed over the construction site on July 1, 2025. However, according to the conditions of the grant, it was no longer possible to divide the construction into more than two phases. The first phase was supposed to end in September 2025. During that time, we could realistically handle only demolition work. From that point on, we had to address a situation that we did not cause ourselves, but the responsibility for handling it remained with us," Hlavatý stated.
The mayor indicated that changes in the grant conditions from the ministry and the lengthy approval process negatively affected the construction schedule. Due to the delays, the municipality could use less money to finance regular expenses. Therefore, according to the mayor, it was also not possible to secure financing through a bank loan. The municipality thus turned to the region for a loan request.
"Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Aleš Juchelka and his team also helped us. Yes, a minister from another political party helped us. I will not hide it or twist it. When someone helps us, it is right to publicly admit it and thank them," Hlavatý said, who is running in the October municipal elections for a seven-member council of the municipality on the STAN candidate list. He will not be seeking the position of mayor.
At the May meeting of the regional council, which, despite the mayor's criticism, approved the loan, the financial situation of the municipality was also discussed. "At no point was the operation of the municipality, cultural events, regular services, or other activities of Tetín threatened. The municipality was not at risk of bankruptcy," Hlavatý stated.
According to the mayor, the reconstruction of the building in poor technical condition was necessary. "Today, Tetín has one of the most modern public buildings in the area. It has a modern library, a workplace for the municipal office, a multifunctional community space, and two floors for the childcare group. The childcare group will not serve just Tetín, but the entire region," Hlavatý told ČTK. He added that the building is nearly energy self-sufficient.
