Trutnov - The town hall of the thirty-thousand-strong Trutnov will renew the park in the Horní Staré Město district, where the largest panel housing estate in the city is located. The park is next to the Church of St. Wenceslas. The work will begin in the coming days, with completion expected in the summer of 2023. The city will pay 4.5 million crowns for the park reconstruction, most of which is funded by a grant from the State Environmental Fund.

The park renovation is part of the public space modifications in Trutnov. "Last year we completed the revitalization of the forest park at Šestidomí, now we are starting work in Horní Staré Město. In winter we will begin with improvements at Hraničářů Square, and for next year we are preparing Lípa Square in Poříčí," said Mayor Michal Rosa (ODS) today.

The park in Horní Staré Město will feature new furniture, public lighting, and builders will create new paths, a relaxation zone, and a sheltered meeting space. The city’s technical services will plant greenery and cut down overaged trees.

Since May, the city has been repairing National Street near the city center at a cost of nearly 15 million crowns. Builders will replace not only the road and sidewalk surfaces in the street but also the sewer system, gas pipeline, and telecommunications networks. Everything should be completed by the end of the year.

The largest investment in public spaces in the city in recent years was last year's completed reconstruction of the main pedestrian zone in Horská Street for 44 million crowns. The zone runs from the historic Krakonoš Square to Republic Square.
