Swimming pool and wellness Břeclav (interior design author: Ing. arch. Helena Straková)
Břeclav – Today, with the laying of the foundation stone at the bottom of the pool, the reconstruction of the indoor swimming pool and the outdoor swimming area began in Břeclav, costing 530 million crowns. After the ceremonial opening by swimmers from the Delfín club and divers from the Nautilus club, the pool was drained, and the construction workers took over. The upgraded facility is set to open in 20 months. Mayor Svatopluk Pěček (ANO) stated that it is a historic moment.
The swimming area has been serving since the 1960s, with the indoor pool in operation since 1994. "Both facilities are aging and require a complete renovation. If we did not proceed with it, there was a risk that we would have to close them within a year or two. Moreover, it is not just a facility for entertainment, but also for school education and youth training," the mayor said.
The current pools will be replaced with stainless steel ones, and the old technologies will be replaced with modern and energy-efficient ones, which aim to ensure partial energy self-sufficiency for the facility. There will be new water features at the outdoor swimming area, and a new operational building with changing rooms and food service will provide better facilities for visitors and staff. There will also be additional parking spaces.
The indoor pool will be expanded with a recreational area, an indoor water slide, and a wellness zone. "This will make it accessible to families with children even when the main swimming pool is occupied with training sessions of sports clubs," said Deputy Mayor Jakub Matuška (Young and Restless). The investment, overseen by the company IMOS Brno, is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026. "However, we would like to open the swimming area in test mode as early as July 2026, so that the people of Břeclav can enjoy the summer season," Matuška added.
The city has been preparing the reconstruction of the swimming area since 2020. The indoor pool and the outdoor swimming area are already at a critical limit in terms of both structural integrity and technology. At the same time, they have significant energy losses. For Břeclav, this is the most important investment in its modern history. The city will finance it through a loan and is also seeking grants.
