Brno - Artistic installations in the historic water reservoirs under the Yellow Hill in Brno are accessible from today until Sunday during the Prototyp festival. The event has been connecting art with science and technology for several years. Visitors can spend 80 minutes in the exhibition of two reservoirs, where one features an audiovisual show and the other presents works by Czech and foreign artists, said organizer Michal Okleštěk to ČTK. Today's tours are sold out, there are few tickets left for Saturday, and more available for Sunday.
The organizers have utilized the relatively recently accessible space of the reservoirs, which are referred to as underground cathedrals due to their architecture. The combination of art and unique space offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Visitors will see video mapping, light and sound installations, kinetic installations, and 3D printed sculptures. The entire festival is also part of Brno Creative Days.
"Entry is on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 20:40, with groups going every 20 minutes and each group accommodating 30 people. The tour is without a guide," informed Okleštěk. "The reservoirs are accessed from Tvrdá Street, from where people can see the navigation to reach the entrance," Okleštěk said. Interest is so great that it will probably not even be possible to buy tickets on-site, so potential interested parties should purchase them in advance online.
Since the reservoirs are a unique and beautiful space, the organizers hope to return here in a year. By then, the third reservoir might also be accessible after reconstruction.
