In Dolní Břežany near Prague, a sports hall has been opened

Dolní Břežany - A new sports hall has been opened in Dolní Břežany near Prague for schoolchildren, sports clubs, and the public. The total costs, including the acquisition of the land, amounted to 113 million crowns, of which nearly 80 million crowns were obtained by the municipality from the Ministry of Finance, and ten million were contributed by the region. Lucie Vospělová from the Dolní Břežany Town Hall informed ČTK today.

"The construction of the sports hall is the largest investment project of the municipality, which provides the Břežany school with new spaces for physical education. Local sports clubs will also use the hall for their activities, and it will serve the public for recreational sports," stated Mayor Věslav Michalik (STAN). The building will also be suitable for cultural and social events.

According to Jakub Našinec, who is the author of the architectural design, it is a unique building in the Czech Republic. Its uniqueness lies in its rounded shape, aluminum shingle facade, and the method of lighting using light guides.

The spaces are designed to allow for various modes of use, and the hall can be divided into several parts using electrically operated curtains. It includes sports equipment for school instruction, electrically retractable basketball hoops, sound systems, and a large screen. In addition to changing rooms with washbasins, the building also contains classrooms for teachers.

Other Central Bohemian cities, like Kutná Hora, are also building sports halls. Kolín is also preparing a similar project.
