Loučka - The construction of the chapel of St. John Paul II. in Loučka near Vizovice in the Zlín region will be supported on Sunday, May 7, by the concert Legends to Legends. Songs by Jiří Schelinger and Karel Kryl will be performed, as well as the biggest hits of contemporary rock legends, all in acoustic versions, paying tribute to their colleagues and friends will be Láďa Křížek, Tanja, Citron, and Aleš Brichta, said organizer Josef Kořenek today to ČTK.
According to the initiators of its construction, the chapel is intended to be a thank you for the salvation of the village at the end of World War II. It was at risk of being burned down by the Nazis like in the nearby settlements of Ploština, Prlov, or Vařákovy paseky. The Vizovické hills became a refuge for members of the partisan movement at the turn of 1944 and 1945; the Nazis burned the settlements due to the cooperation of local residents with partisans. Several agricultural buildings burned down in Loučka, but no one died. "For this miracle of saving the village from burning, the local residents want to thank God after 80 years by building a chapel with a unique carillon, which will be dedicated to St. John Paul II," the initiators stated. A Society for the construction of the chapel in the village of Loučka was formed for this reason. The costs of construction are estimated at 12 million crowns, and it will be built according to the design of architect Josef Pleskot.
"We would like to start building in August so that we can open the chapel next year," said Kořenek, who is one of the founding members of the society. He is also the secretary of the traditional Days of Goodwill in Velehrad in the Uherské Hradiště region. The basic amount needed for the construction of the chapel in Loučka is already in place, but people can continue to contribute, for example, by purchasing bells; there will be fifty of them for the chapel. "There is interest in them; we are trying to involve people from abroad as well," Kořenek stated.
The construction of the chapel will also be supported by the Sunday concert. "It is dedicated to artists who have historically visited the village of Loučka and have already been called to the musical heaven. For example, Karel Kryl and Sváťa Karásek have performed there, Jiří Schelinger stopped on his way to Slavičín and played football there," Kořenek said. The Australian band Mixed Up Everything will also perform.
