Prostějov - A modern infrastructure for passengers and more comfortable operations for city and suburban buses is offered today by the newly opened Újezd terminal in Prostějov. Its construction cost over 120 million crowns. About half of the costs were covered by a grant from European funds. This was reported to ČTK by the mayor's deputy Jiří Rozehnal (ANO).
"The terminal is covered and, in addition to the bus platforms, it also includes a broader improvement of the public space. Emphasis was placed on creating sufficient parking capacity, quality urban furniture, planting greenery, and space for relaxation. There is even a children's playground," Rozehnal stated.
According to Rozehnal, the project also included the revitalization of the surrounding areas. Previously technically inadequate and dusty surfaces were replaced by permeable materials that allow for the natural drainage of rainwater on site. The terminal has gained a hundred parking spaces.
At the end of 2019, a new terminal was opened in central Prostějov on Florián Square. The reconstruction and modernization of this important transport hub for city and suburban buses cost 53 million crowns. Half of the expenses were covered by a grant from European funds, and the remaining part was paid by the city from its budget.
