Valašské Meziříčí - Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region will start building a funeral hall in the coming days. It will be located at the main entrance to the cemetery. The construction will cost nearly 24 million crowns. It should be completed by June of next year, said city hall spokesperson Renata Votrubová today.
"The city deserves a dignified ceremonial hall. The current funeral hall is outdated and is inadequate in terms of capacity, aesthetics, and operation. Valašské Meziříčí will thus have new dignified spaces for saying goodbye to their loved ones," said Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO).
The city hall had initially budgeted 30 million crowns for the funeral hall, but the amount was reduced through the tender process. This year, the city will allocate 15 million crowns from its budget, with the remainder planned for next year.
The ceremonial funeral hall will have a capacity of 200 people, of which at least 50 seats will be available. It will have a separately accessible waiting room for the bereaved with access to the space for displaying the deceased separated by glass. The building is expected to be barrier-free.
A new columbarium with 234 spaces for depositing urns will also be created, along with a new area for a scattering meadow. Approximately 200 ceremonies are held annually in the Valašské Meziříčí ceremonial funeral hall. Morkovice in the Zlín region is also building a funeral hall, and Kunovice in Uherské Hradiště is also planning to prepare one.
