Lhota near Vsetín (Vsetín region) – A multifunctional sports center will be built in Lhota near Vsetín. It will feature an ice rink with year-round freezing, a gym, wellness facilities, and a restaurant. It will be available to the general public, with an anticipated opening date in the fall of 2022. The investor is the Vsetín family company Kotrla, which operates in road transport and wood processing. The costs are approximately 250 million crowns, the representative of the Vsetín hockey club informed ČTK in a press release today.
The construction was symbolically initiated by laying the foundation stone, and the first machines will arrive at the site next week. "This is a significant moment for me. I recalled everything we have gone through from the initial idea to this moment when we are finally starting to build. I now perceive that the biggest work is still ahead of us," said the owner of the company Dušan Kotrla.
The fact that a sports complex will be built in a village with about 800 inhabitants was appreciated by the mayor Lenka Kocourková (independent). "I really like the project because it will enhance the existing sports area in our municipality. Especially children are currently not engaging in sports much. It is important for them to leave their laptops and play more sports. The new multifunctional hall represents a great opportunity for them," stated the mayor.
In addition to the public, Vsetín hockey players will also be able to use the facilities in the future. "This is truly great news. We are all filled with anticipation and look forward to seeing a completely new stadium with added value for further use rise in Lhota in a year and a quarter. Mr. Kotrla and I have discussed various possibilities for a long time, and I am very glad that his efforts have come to fruition. The creation of a new sports facility is an important step for both our hockey club and for the whole Valašsko region," said the managing director of VHK Robe Vsetín, Daniel Tobola.
