Valašské Klobouky

Valašské Klobouky – A modern timber house, a wooden cabin, will be built in Valašské Klobouky in the Zlín region. It will be situated on a plot currently owned by the city, where the ruins of the unfinished wooden cabin of Matyáš once stood. The foundations of the building will be demolished, rough construction is planned for this year, with the completion of the entire building next year, said the city's mayor Josef Bělaška (BEZPP for Klobučané společně) today, who also informed about it on Facebook. A private investor will construct the modern wooden cabin.

"The wooden cabin will refer to local history in its style and draw inspiration from traditional architecture, while also bearing a modern expression. I am confident that a building will be created that will be an interesting addition to the current form of our city. It is possible that for some of the public, this project will initially be perceived as controversial. However, we cannot remain only in the past – our city also needs 21st-century architecture that will naturally complement its historical character," stated the mayor. The building will be a modern structure, and the cladding will be shingle.

The investor is the construction company Elcomat service from the nearby Nedašov. On the ground floor, there will be apartments for short-term accommodation, and likely a store on the lower level, the mayor noted. The city purchased the land years ago, then looked for a private investor. After the company builds the wooden cabin, it will also acquire the land into ownership.

There are traditional wooden houses in the city, timber houses from the 19th century. Various events are held in them, showcasing traditional crafts or regional specialties. People can visit them, for example, during the Live Wooden Cabins event at the end of August or during the Valašský Mikuláš Fair.
