Brno - Veletrhy Brno will sell the UMPRUM pavilion to the cleaning company Olman Service for 45 million crowns, which is planning its reconstruction. The sale has already been approved by the board of the municipal company. This was reported by Mladá fronta Dnes in today’s edition.

The pavilion was built in the 1920s along with the entire exhibition area, designed as a villa, but it was not used for living. The local cleaning company Olman Service has expressed interest. "Our company has been providing services at the exhibition grounds since 1990, so we know the area very well. We also lease a lot of space there, so we decided to move everything here along with the company's headquarters," said the company's owner Martin Olejár to the newspaper. Today, the company is based in Bystrc.

According to MfD, both parties have already written to each other, assuring that they will sign the purchase agreement by the end of January at the latest. The sale has also been approved by the board of the municipal company. "Now it's up to the management to finalize everything. It is in a process close to signing the contract," stated the chairman of the Veletrhy, Tomáš Kratochvíl (ČSSD). Everything must also be formally confirmed by the Brno council as the representative of the owner - the city of Brno.

The company wants to renovate the building. "We will repair the buildings according to the requirements of heritage protection because we want to return them to their original form from 1928. We want to preserve the elements of architects Janák and Gočár, who designed the buildings," Olejár explained.

The pavilion of the Art and Design School in Prague was conceived as an exhibit, representing a modern family house of a bookseller with a store for books and artistic objects. The building is not the only one that the exhibitions are selling; the Králíkovo theater is also available.

Veletrhy Brno has had to cancel almost all events since the beginning of the year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Revenues have fallen by 90 percent. This year, they expect a loss of 250 to 280 million crowns.
