Prague - Prague will modify the appearance of the ventilation outlets from the Blanka tunnel. The one in Střešovice will be adorned with climbing plants, while the second one at Stromovka will be modified according to the design of architect Frederik Díaz, and several benches will be placed around it. This was stated to journalists today by Deputy Mayor for Transport Petr Dolínek (ČSSD). The district of Prague 6 originally proposed a climbing wall for the outlet in Střešovice, but the owners of the surrounding houses disagreed.

"There will be no artwork, nor a climbing wall. It will remain according to the original plan from the building permit, that is, greening at its full height,"
said Dolínek. The approximately twenty-meter concrete cylinder is located on Nad Octárnou street near the Malovanka intersection. In addition to climbing plants directly on the tube, the planting of trees is also planned to conceal the structure.

The cylinder on Nad Královskou oborou street in Letná will be modified according to the design of architect Frederik Díaz. It will be covered with textured synthetic stone, on which lines will be formed from points. At night, the object will be illuminated. The city will pay over 20 million crowns for the modifications.

The six-kilometer tunnel complex Blanka opened to drivers in September 2015 after eight years of construction and with a four-year delay. The construction cost the capital city, including the connection to the Strahov tunnel, 43 billion crowns, about ten billion more than initially planned. The ventilation structures have noise and odor filters, so according to the municipality, they should not burden the surroundings.
