Rosice – Work on the renovation of the castle in Rosice near Brno, costing 50 million crowns, will begin this spring. The city, which owns the castle, has succeeded in applying for grants for three projects, said the castle curator Ludvík Vaverka to ČTK. The reconstruction includes the repair of façades, including refurbishment and partial replacement of windows, the construction of a depositary, a visitor center, a multifunctional lecture and cultural hall, the restoration of the fountain, and the use of rainwater.

"There are three projects. The first concerns the façades and the refurbishment and partial replacement of windows for 14.5 million crowns. The work is set to begin this spring and is divided into two years," Vaverka specified.

The second project, which includes the construction of a depositary, a visitor center, a multifunctional hall, the restoration of the fountain, the adjustment of the courtyard, and the creation of a new website for 23.5 million crowns, is also expected to start this year. The city has obtained a European grant for both projects from the regional operational program.

The last project will help the castle management utilize rainwater for watering the garden. "We send rainwater to the sewage system and water the garden with drinking water, which is nonsensical. Therefore, for 12 million crowns, we want to acquire and bury large-capacity tanks, into which we will channel rainwater from the castle roofs, which we will then use for watering," added the curator. The castle management has already been allocated a grant from the operational program for the environment.

The grants will cover 85 percent of the project costs, but the city, as the owner of the castle, must initially pay for them out of its own funds in order to receive the money. This is also why the work is spread out until 2027, when everything must be completed and accounted for to secure the grants.
