Michal Profant – Kladruby Monastery

Building historian Ing. arch. Michal Profant will focus in his lecture on the testimony of the southern aisle façade of the convent church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the context of older and current architectural historical and archaeological findings. The stratified and uniquely preserved façade within the area reflects several centuries of changes to the monastery and allows for an understanding of historically otherwise nearly entirely vanished medieval and early modern phases of the convent buildings.

Ing. arch. Michal Profant has specialized in architectural historical surveys since graduating from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University, while professionally operating under the West Bohemian Institute for the Protection and Documentation of Monuments (ZIP o. p. s.). He has processed a number of significant objects, including the pilgrimage site of Svatá Hora in his native Příbram. In addition, he is a co-author of a book about the vanished Příbram synagogue and the local Jewish population.
