What is the role of monuments, memorials, and statues in public space?
How should their realization proceed?
How important is the preparatory phase and why hold architectural competitions?
How does it compare in other cities to Pardubice?
What do timeless examples of memorial solutions look like in the Czech Republic and other countries?
What selection procedures for memorials have provoked controversy among residents in other cities, and how can they be avoided?


The discussion will feature:
Petr Dub (visual artist and chairman of Spolek Skutek)
Jakub Hendrych (architect, Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague – Public Space Office)
Pavel Karous (sculptor and founder of the initiative Invaders and Herons)

The discussion will be moderated by:
Josef Chuchma, head of the Saturday supplement of Lidové noviny Orientace and author and host of the critical weekly on current events in contemporary creation and art Jasná řeč Josefa Chuchmy on ČT Art.
