Rostislav Koryčánek: Presentation of Architecture

We cordially invite you to the lecture Mgr. Rostislav Koryčánek: Presentation of Architecture, which will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 5:00 PM in room A118, FA VUT in Brno, Poříčí 5.

The lecture will be divided into four thematic blocks:

era21 - Rostislav Koryčánek was the longtime editor-in-chief of the well-established magazine Era21 and is still a member of its editorial board. He will introduce the beginnings and contexts of the emergence of this media, give us a glimpse behind the scenes, and remind us of the now-defunct Publishing House ERA.

round tables - during his scholarship stay in Berlin, Rostislav Koryčánek maintained contacts with the Czech architectural scene through round tables. The first round table took place in Ostrava and focused on the topic of Architectural Education.

exhibitions - an exhibition of architect Zdeňka Fránka showcased his previous work at the House of Arts in Brno, but the main theme was what is most intrinsic to architectural work, namely the creation of space. Rostislav Koryčánek was the curator of this exhibition.

As the director of the House of Arts, he was behind the project of the festival Sculptures in the Streets. According to Koryčánek, the sculptures in public space evoke a dialogue between the person and the space itself.

monograph - from the joint initiative of Rostislav Koryčánek, graphic designer Ondřej Doležal, and architect Josef Pleskot, the idea was born to publish the monograph Houses from Interspace on the occasion of Pleskot's 55th birthday.
