The technical equipment of large building complexes, such as swimming pools, sports facilities, offices, airports, or industrial sites, can today be controlled as a smart building in an automated and centralized manner. The focus is on energy optimization of the building's operation to reduce operating costs and enhance building safety.
Franke Water Systems offers optimally designed sanitary solutions for the sustainable operation of these buildings. The AQUA 3000 open water consumption management system creates a balance between ecology and cost-effectiveness, hygiene and consumption, as well as planning and operation.


The thoughtful comprehensive water consumption management system allows for efficient operation of all connected components and can, for example, be integrated into higher-level networks via KNX-IP through a standardized RJ45 interface. Since 2016, Franke has also been a member of the KNX association. AQUA 3000 open enables operators of large drinking water installation systems to achieve greater efficiency in water and energy consumption. The goal is to ensure the best possible hygiene of drinking water at every withdrawal point in the building. At the same time, limited resources, namely energy and water, are conserved, thus reducing CO2 emissions.

Drinking water hygiene smartly and easily with AQUA 3000 open

Access to clean and high-quality water has a significant impact on the quality of life. Uniform and binding directives regarding drinking water quality in EU member states (EU Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC) help ensure this. The implementation of the required quality standards is left to each EU member state.
Different parameters are fundamentally measured – among others, physicochemical, sensory, and microbiological. In incorrectly constructed and operated drinking water systems, "clean" water can become contaminated, leading to the contamination of the entire building circuit. The main reasons for this are stagnation and critical temperatures. Pathogens and bacteria (e.g., Legionella) in drinking water best multiply at temperatures between 25 °C and 45 °C. Transmission occurs contactlessly by inhaling the finest water droplets generated during showering. With the AQUA 3000 open water consumption management system, stagnation of water and critical temperatures can be prevented.


The AQUA 3000 open water consumption management system can be individually programmed and freely expanded. Shower, washbasin, and flush devices, as well as other system components such as temperature sensors from Franke Water Systems, can be connected. AQUA 3000 open enables all connected fittings to perform hygienic flushing, thermal disinfection, mode switching, shutdown for cleaning purposes, system fault reporting, such as leak detection, and statistical functions. The amount of water, hygienic functions, and their temperature limit values can be individually monitored and set for each room and even for each fitting.
