Natural linoleum Gerflor DLW Marmorette in the spaces of the new campus of the Waldorf School in Olomouc

The Waldorf School Olomouc is a private school in Olomouc offering Waldorf education at the preschool, primary, and secondary school levels. Its new educational campus has been built in the Olomouc district of Hejčín and has been serving students since September 2021. Gerflor supplied nearly 3000 m² of its flooring products here, half of which consists of natural linoleum Gerflor DLW Marmolette.

The construction work on a plot of five and a half thousand square meters began in 2020, and in the 2021/2022 school year, the Waldorf School is already operating in its new and modern facilities. The preschool has a separate single-story building with a capacity for one hundred children. Up to 360 students attend the primary school. In the basement of the building, there is a kitchen, a workshop, and a ceramics workshop, while classrooms have been created on the upper floors, along with a circular studio for art education. In addition to the preschool and primary school, there is also a secondary school for 120 students in the new campus, which parents of schoolchildren from the Olomouc, Prostějov, and Přerov regions have long called for.

Despite the initial preference for standard PVC flooring from a competing manufacturer specified in the project documentation, the general contractor for the construction decided to meet the investor's request to enhance user standards and use natural linoleum Gerflor DLW Marmorette for the new campus. The unique project is thus the result of constructive negotiations between the general contractor, Gerflor specialist, and the investor's representative. Natural linoleum has significantly increased the proportion of natural materials with which children have daily contact. At the same time, thanks to the new Neocare surface finish, it represents a very economical maintenance option for the school. The extremely high proportion (98%) of natural raw materials such as linseed oil, wood flour, resins, limestone, and others ensures not only a healthy indoor climate but also high elasticity and resistance to heavy loads.

In addition to natural linoleum, it includes other flooring from Gerflor's wide range. Nearly 1000 m² consists of flexible homogeneous wall protection Gerflor Mural Club, which utilizes a PUR surface finish that provides good resistance to chemical products and makes maintenance easier. Additionally, it is fully impact-resistant and permanently protects the walls of the school from damage. The floors of the Olomouc campus also feature approximately 500 m² of Gerflor Creation 30 vinyl tiles and 150 m² of Gerflor Recreation leisure activity floors.
