Can schools not only become places of education but also models of sustainability? Is it possible to transform outdated school buildings into energy-efficient and eco-friendly spaces? And how can schools actively contribute to raising awareness about environmental care? Come and listen to inspiring examples and discuss the future of education in the face of climate challenges! You will learn, for example, how modern technologies help change schools into energy-active buildings – from smart heating and thermal insulation to waste recycling and rainwater harvesting, to sustainable landscape management.
The debate will feature: - Antonín Klecanda – councilor of the capital city of Prague for education, sports, and leisure; - Jiří Tencar – engineer from the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings at Czech Technical University and owner of the company ECOTEN; - Petr Lešek – architect and member of the Working Group for Sustainability in the Czech Chamber of Architects.
The event will be moderated by Karolina Jirkalová, historian, architecture critic, and editor of Art Antiques magazine.
The event is free as part of the 11th year of the festival Open House Prague 2025 (May 12–18, 2025), which opens the city to everyone. The debate is part of this year's thematic line Schools for Future Generations. For capacity reasons, we recommend registering for the event in advance here.
