Třebíč - Třebíč is preparing investments in its cultural houses. It has developed project documentation for the renovation of the Forum, where the estimated costs are 50 million crowns, said the city hall spokesperson Irini Martakidisová to ČTK. Still this year, the city should also have a project for the renovation of the cultural house in Borovina. According to Mayor Pavel Pacal (For Třebíč), it will likely take precedence over the Forum.
"The project (for the Forum) is prepared, but the reconstruction will not start this year. It has not been decided yet what will happen in the following years," added the city hall spokesperson. This year, according to her, only necessary repairs are planned for the building from the mid-1980s. The repair of the roof will cost about 100,000 crowns, roughly 20,000 crowns will be spent by the city hall for a canopy over the back entrance, the replacement of part of the floors will cost 160,000 crowns, and the replacement of water pipes and other minor repairs will cost about 480,000 crowns.
The proposed budget for the city includes four million crowns for the project documentation for the renovation of the cultural house in Borovina. "The difference is that the Forum is operational and can function this way for several more years, while Borovina is closed because it is not operational. So our effort is to make Borovina operational," said Pacal.
The cultural house in the city district of Borovina, along with the adjacent land, was purchased by the city three years ago for 24 million crowns. At that time, the building, originally constructed as a sports club for the Gustava Klimenta Works, was functioning as a furniture store. According to information from the National Heritage Institute, the building is an architectural document of late modernism with influences of the Brussels style and was completed in the mid-1960s. It has remained in almost unchanged condition, featuring a large social hall as well as a room where puppet theater was previously performed.
For several years now, there has been consideration in Třebíč to also renovate the National House, which has been functioning on Karlovo náměstí since the 1870s. It hosts theatrical performances, concerts, and other cultural events. So far, there is only a study of its future form. "The problem with the National House is that the moment we undertake a larger renovation, it means a significant reduction in the capacity of the main hall according to current standards," noted Pacal. During theatrical performances, more than 300 people can fit into the ground floor of the hall, and over a hundred more have seats in the balcony. According to Pacal, under the new regulations, the capacity would be reduced by half.
