Aquapark Kohoutovice

URBAN CONCEPT
The construction of the Aquapark is situated next to the complex of the Elementary School on Chalabalova Street. Its placement connects to the school gymnasium and utilizes the terrain break between the level of the school playground and the sloping green area down to Libuška Avenue.
As part of the outdoor modifications, a rainwater retention system is proposed using a series of green terrain swales.

ARCHITECTURAL AND OPERATIONAL SOLUTION
The mass solution respects the cubic volume of the gymnasium in its entrance and operational parts, while the hall part of the pools is designed in contrast to the given residential grid in an organic form of a "lying belt".
These two basic volumes are distinguished materially: the entrance and operational building is equipped with a facade made of compact panels in a uniform grid, while the hall part of the pools has a shell with pre-weathered titanium-zinc cladding.
All social facilities are located in the cubic mass. The entrance hall, changing rooms, and offices are situated on the ground floor, while refreshments with a dry and wet bar are on the upper floor. In this part of the building, there are also spaces for fitness and massages.
The technical facilities are located under the entire area of the pool section.
The pool hall covers two main water areas and several other water attractions. Next to the lap pool, a relaxation facility is situated, including a sauna, steam room, and other water attractions. The lap pool is designed for sports swimming, training, and a certain level of swimming competitions, meeting the conditions for school swimming and public lap swimming.

Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is 25 m long and has 6 racing lanes. It is equipped with starting blocks, lane dividers, and features such as a stroke turnaround indicator. The pool is built to meet the conditions for training and possible school competitions or competitions for the public.
With a depth of 2 m, the pool also meets the requirements for water polo or synchronized swimming.

Recreational Pool
The recreational pool, which has an irregular shape with bays, allows different usage according to the individual interests of visitors and is equipped with many water attractions:
– the largest bay, known as the relaxation zone, features water beds with bubble massage or air seats
– children's splash pool
– water spouts and waterfalls
– lazy river
– for evening swimming or special occasions, underwater lighting is installed, which dims the main lighting of the pool hall and highlights the illuminated water surface

Water Slide
One of the main attractions is the water slide, which is located outside the pool hall for spatial reasons, of course with an entrance and exit back into the hall. Its length is almost 90 m and the outdoor design of the structure creates an unmistakable silhouette of the building that attracts visitors to the swimming pool.

Whirlpool
The warm water pool is always a sought-after attraction, not just for seniors. Visitors can sit in water at a higher temperature than in the surrounding pools and enjoy massaging currents of water mixed with air or air bubbles, with a view of the entire pool hall.

Outdoor Pool
Since the Aquapark is located amidst the buildings, there are no other suitable areas for an outdoor pool. For summer swimming, a sun terrace with a smaller outdoor pool (measuring 12 x 6 m) is placed on the roof of the operational part. Besides sunbathing and swimming, there is a beautiful view of Libuška Valley in Kohoutovice.

STRUCTURAL SOLUTION
Structurally, the building is designed as a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton. The main load-bearing structure of the pool hall consists of an organic structure of laminated wood trusses. On the southern side, they are supported on reinforced concrete pillars, while at the other end, they go down to the foundations at ground level.
The material and structural solution of the pools consists of a reinforced concrete basin with ceramic tiling.
