The rentable space in the Černá růže passage previously served as a hairdressing salon.
The investors' intention was to create a pleasant, intimate place for a service that is increasingly in demand - a children's corner, a "kindergarten," where short-term childcare would be provided. There is also the alternative possibility of use, e.g., a supplementary program for parents - mother’s exercise classes, language courses, etc. The advantage of the space is its connection to a spacious terrace through glass doors that allow at least some daylight into the interior. Otherwise, the space faces the passage.
All original partitions and installations were removed; the space was newly divided into an entrance area with a cloakroom and sanitary facilities and a play area, also with its own facilities and a small office.
The reception desk also serves as a "straddling bench"; it is made from lacquered MDF and is designed as a lockable set of cabinets to save space. A computer, cash register, etc., are located here. "Through the gate," after changing shoes, one enters the play area, to the left are the cloakrooms and sanitary facilities.
The play area is divided by floor type into two parts - "busy" (cast floor) and "quiet" (carpet). In the section with the cast floor, there is a small practice kitchenette and work tables, while the quiet section primarily has toys for younger children. The main feature of this space is a variably illuminated storage wall made of lightly colored perspex panels that overlap each other. The lower sections can hide children due to their size, and the translucence provides visibility of usage. At the same time, the wall illuminates the room.
The rest is furnished with standardized play elements from HABA.
For the need to close off the space from views in the passage during quiet time or exercise, a textile curtain is proposed behind the display window.
Even though the place will serve children, a subtle color scheme was chosen - the bright colors of the toys are sufficient on their own, and the attention is not scattered. Light shades were chosen to brighten the space with limited access to daylight. The walls feature predominant shades of yellow, beige, and pastel green, while the floors are a combination of these colors or gray-blue.
