Cabin in Moldava

Cabin in Moldava
Project:2019
Completion:dokončení 10/2020
Area:146 m2
Built Up Area:128 m2

The building plot is located in a sparsely populated area near the border crossing in Moldava, in the Ore Mountains. The site offers beautiful views to the north, over the hills on the German side of the border.
The house's façade is clad in larch planks, and the roof is made of dark grey sheet metal. These nature-inspired materials help the building blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.
The house is placed at the upper part of the plot, the gable roof, and the orientation of the ridge respond to the characteristic features of the scattered mountain architecture in the area.
A distinctive architectural feature is the covered porch and terrace on the main (northern) façade. The terrace is enclosed on the western side by a smaller volume of sauna, which complements the overall composition of the house.
The main living space is articulated and oriented northwards to take advantage of the views of the German hills; it also opens to the south and west. Above the kitchen there is an open space, ending with a popular rope net. The attic contains the sleeping quarters with four bedrooms.
The cabin serves both for family recreation and short-term rentals.
