Cottage Under the Rock

Cottage Under the Rock
The new cottage 2460 was built in the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks, in the rock town of Adršpach, on the site of the original completely dilapidated building with a footprint of 6.2x7.8 m. The original wooden cottage, built sometime in the second half of the 19th century, served as a refreshment stop for tourists and was already a renowned and recommended place by 1915. Since then, over more than a hundred years of existence, the building has occasionally been repaired to such a deplorable state that reconstruction of the structure was no longer possible. It seemed that the building was destined for complete obsolescence, destruction, and removal without any replacement. The long history of the cottage in the locality contributed to the approval of the construction of a new building on the original footprint. The construction area is located in the first zone of protection of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area. The administration of the Protected Landscape Area ultimately decided to give the site another chance and allow the new building.
Initially, the object was considered as a minimal recreational wooden cottage for rock lovers, equipped with built-in and convertible furniture. Over the course of a long and gradual realization, it became more of a base for climbers.
In the project of the new building, we had to adhere to the location and size of the original footprint of the cottage and the strict regulations of the Protected Landscape Area, not only regarding the appearance of the building but also in relation to the course of realization and execution within the designated time period of the year.
